The types of webbing are rich and diverse, and can be classified as follows according to the material, weaving process and use:
Classification by material
- Cotton webbing: made of natural cotton fiber, soft and comfortable, strong moisture absorption, good dyeing performance, can be dyed into a variety of bright colors, often used in clothing, home textiles and other fields, such as clothing neckline, cuff decoration, bedding wrapping and so on. However, the strength of cotton webbing is relatively low, and the wear resistance and water resistance are not as good as some synthetic fiber webbing.
- Hemp webbing: with hemp fiber as raw material, with good moisture absorption, strong permeability, cool feel and other characteristics, giving a natural, rustic feeling, often used in the production of national style or natural style of jewelry, crafts, and some summer clothing decoration. However, hemp webbing is easy to wrinkle, the texture is relatively hard, and the flexibility is not as good as cotton webbing.
- Silk ribbon: using silk as the main raw material, with smooth and soft feel, high gloss, with excellent drape, often used in the production of high-end clothing decorative belts, ties, scarves, etc., can add elegant and gorgeous temperament to the product. However, the silk ribbon is expensive and relatively delicate, and needs to be carefully maintained to avoid scratches from sharp objects and the impact of wet environments.
- Nylon ribbon: with high strength, high toughness, good wear resistance, UV resistance and other advantages, can withstand a large tensile force, not easy to break, widely used in outdoor equipment, military supplies, bags and other fields, such as climbing rope, parachute belt, backpack shoulder strap. However, nylon webbing is easy to age and fade under long-term exposure, and it is easy to produce static electricity.
- Polyester fiber webbing: also called polyester webbing, with high strength, good elasticity, not easy to deformation, wear resistance, chemical corrosion resistance and other characteristics, dimensional stability is good, often used in automotive seat belts, clothing accessories, industrial belts and so on. However, the moisture absorption of polyester fiber webbing is poor, and it may feel stuffy when wearing, which is not as comfortable as cotton webbing.
- Spandex webbing: with high elasticity, can be quickly restored after stretching, often blended or interwoven with other fibers, used to make clothing parts that need elasticity, such as underwear straps, cuffs, necklines of sports clothing, etc., can fit the body curve and provide a comfortable wearing experience. However, the strength of spandex webbing is relatively low, it is easy to break when used alone, and it is usually not used as the main material of webbing alone.
Classification by weaving process
- Plain ribbon: The use of plain weaving process, longitude and latitude interwoven, forming a flat surface. This ribbon has the advantages of simple structure, tight texture and smooth surface, and is often used for decorative side bands of clothing and bags, as well as some occasions with higher appearance requirements.
- Twill ribbon: The warp and weft are oblique interwoven when weaving, forming a twill pattern. The strength of the twill ribbon is higher than that of the plain ribbon, the wear resistance is better, and it is often used in occasions that require a certain strength and durability, such as industrial belts, pet leash, etc.
- Satin webbing: satin weaving process makes the surface of the webbing show a smooth, bright satin effect, with good gloss and soft feel, often used in the production of high-end clothing decorative belts, gift packaging belts, etc., can improve the grade and beauty of the product.
- Rib webbing: It has horizontal elasticity and scalability, usually using rib weaving method to form regular bumps and bruises. Rib webbing is often used in the neckline, cuffs, hem and other parts of the clothing, which can fit the body and provide a comfortable wearing feeling.
- Jacquard webbing: Through the jacquard process to weave a variety of complex patterns, patterns or words on the webbing. Jacquard woven belt has a unique decorative, can be used in clothing, home textiles, jewelry and other fields to increase the beauty and uniqueness of the product.
Classification by use
- Clothing webbing: including a variety of decorative belts, shoulder belts, belts, neckcuff bag side belts, etc., used for clothing decoration, fixed and functional design, such as dress belt, shirt neckline decoration belt, etc., can improve the overall beauty and quality of clothing.
- Bag webbing: mainly used for the handle, shoulder strap, zipper strap and other parts of the bag, requiring high strength and wear resistance to withstand the weight of the bag and pull in daily use, such as the handle strap of the suitcase and the shoulder strap of the backpack.
- Outdoor equipment with webbing: such as climbing rope, safety belt, tent rope, etc., need to have high strength, wear resistance, UV resistance and other properties to ensure that in the complex outdoor environment and high strength conditions of use safe and reliable.
- Car webbing: Common car seat belts, seat adjustment belts, etc., have strict requirements for the strength, flame retardant, wear resistance and aging resistance of the webbing to ensure the safety of passengers and the normal use of car parts.
