The impact of LED lights on dogs has two sides, as follows:

Positive impact

  • Provide suitable lighting: LED lights can provide a suitable light environment for dogs, so that they can see more clearly when indoor or outdoor activities, reducing the risk of collisions, falls and other accidents due to insufficient light. Especially at night or in low light places, such as basements, rooms without Windows, LED lights can create a safe space for dogs to move.
  • Simulate the natural environment: Some LED lights can simulate changes in natural light, such as the effect of sunrise and sunset. This helps to regulate the dog's biological clock and make it more regular, which is helpful for the dog's physical health and behavior stability.
  • Assisted training and interaction: LED lights can be used as an aid when training your dog or playing interactive games with your dog. For example, attracting the dog's attention through blinking LED lights helps train the dog's response to specific signals, enhances the training effect, and also increases the fun of interaction between humans and dogs.

Negative impact

  • Strong light stimulation: If the brightness of the LED lamp is too high or directly irradiates the dog's eyes, it may cause irritation and damage to the dog's eyes. Dogs' eyes are sensitive to light differently from humans, and strong light may cause eye discomfort, tears, and squinting. Long-term exposure to strong light may also affect your dog's vision and increase the risk of eye disease.
  • Stroboscopic problem: Some poor quality LED lights may have stroboscopic phenomenon, although some stroboscopic human eyes are difficult to detect, but the dog's visual system can perceive more subtle light changes, stroboscopic may make the dog feel irritable, upset, and even cause stress response, affecting their emotions and behavior.
  • Color effects: Dogs have different color vision than humans, and their range of color perception is relatively narrow. Some specific colors of LED lights, such as red, blue, etc., may cause confusion or discomfort to your dog. For example, red may appear to dogs as just a dull color, while blue may appear too harsh, which may affect their perception and judgment of their surroundings.
